The World Series of Poker Europe is currently underway at The Casino at the Empire in London. I was there to watch the final table get set in the H.O.R.S.E. (Event 2). This year they changed the tournament to be held at one venue and sure enough big names showed up and played looking for braclets. The final table of the HORSE event had popular american poker players Howard Lederer and Phil Ivey.
Howard Lederer and Phil Ivey were seated next to each other as the tournament was winding down with 11 players left in the tournament. They were both chatting it up and were definitely good friends and both sported FullTilt Poker.com logos and gear. They both seemed to be pretty cool and at one point the tournament manager looked a little lost and Ivey and Lederer told him to not let people boss him around and assured him that he was in charge and to not let the other poker players bully him.
Howard Lederer was in a commanding chip lead but wasn’t bullying the table and was standing still in anticipation of making the final table. Phil Ivey on the other hand was there to play and got in a couple hands with a few players at the table. At one point he took down a large pot and eliminated a player to bring the total players to 10 and padding his chip stack with a large addition to his average stack.
After about a half hour the final table was set. I wasn’t able to watch the final table with time running out as I had a plane flight to catch but the table finished like this: Sherkhan Farnood, Ivo Donev, Howard Lederer, Jeff Duvall, Mark Gregorich, Phil Ivey, Jeff Lisandro, Spencer Lawrence, Erik Albinsson.
